Valentine's Day Arts and Crafts

Tis the season to be crafty - with Valentine’s Day coming up that is. A lot of kids who I watch really enjoy the creativity and freedom of making crafts, but many of them do not. In order to attract both groups of kids to crafts, I make an effort to try and “play up” the holidays with a fun craft, which is easy to do when you use your local library’s resources to keep the crafts fresh and exciting. I usually checkout a handful of arts and crafts books from the library that specialize in the particular holiday. It always is beneficial to also take the kids with you to the library when you’re selecting the books as they’ll feel more involved with the process and they’ll become more familiar with the library. *Keep in mind that in order to ensure that you’ll get the best resources, you’ll need to checkout books at least two weeks prior to the holiday. Be mindful to flip through the books with your kids and select a few crafts prior to beginning them in order to figure out what materials you’ll need and to see if the craft is too challenging.
