Balloon Animals

One thing that I find children (and adults) always love are balloon animals. Usually kids have to wait for a fair, parade, circus, amusement park or birthday party in order to receive a made-to-order balloon animal, but not anymore. Many stores sell packets that include 50-100 balloons and a balloon pump that are specifically for balloon “twisting” purposes (twisting being a term that is used in relation to making balloon figures). I recently bought a packet at Kmart for $4.50, which came with 65 balloons and had suggestions of animals to make on the back. Not a bad deal for the hours of fun it provided for the children I watch. I haven’t been able to find a store that sells JUST the balloons, so right now I have five pumps, which are handy to have when you have older kids who are interested in learning how to make them.

Now in order to really learn how to make balloon figures beyond the ever-so popular poodle, I recommend going to Google and search “balloon animal instructions.” One of my favorite sites that you’ll undoubtedly find amongst the results is http://www.balloon-animals.com/. This site is great for a variety of reasons, but perhaps the best feature is that the instructions are videotaped, so you can make your balloon figure along with the instructor. Additionally it is also possible to use YouTube for looking up videos of balloon figures that are not found on the website above.
