Welcome to my blog. I guess it would be best to begin with the story behind the name I have assigned to my blog, “The Nanny” and “The Nanny Librarian.” Perhaps you are thinking I really enjoyed the book/movie The Nanny Dairies, which would be a true assumption. You may also be guessing that I am a child care provider known as a nanny, which is also true. Thus, I felt the name to be appropriate for this blogging assignment.
The URL name that I have created is “The Nanny Librarian” because “The Nanny” was unavailable and I am (along with the rest of you) here at Pitt working on my masters to become a librarian. As a nanny, I’ve grown quite accustomed to working with children and young adults, which explains why I made the realization last year when I was about to graduate from IUP that I couldn’t imagine working in a day to day job without interaction with kids. A position as a school librarian will certainly fulfill my love of books, kids, management, learning and the school environment.
